What is Holistic Counseling? Deriving from the Greek word “Holos”, which signifies “whole”, Holistic Counseling has a unitary vision of the human being and proposes the harmonious integration of man’s various components: physical and mental, rational and emotional. My concept of Holistic Counseling integrates exercises of NLP and the methodologies of Psychosynthesis, which allows exploration of self-awareness by means of various instruments of self-introspection – such as imaginative techniques and guided imagery, and expressive techniques such as free design, writing, diaries and autobiographies – as well as meditation, relaxation and breathing techniques deriving from Eastern spiritual traditions. Who is it aimed at? Holistic Counseling provides relational support aimed at assisting people to learn how to activate their inner resources, so that they can analyze and find solutions to problems on their own in order to develop a more enriched and creative lifestyle. It is aimed at anyone wishing to embark on a path of Inner Growth and Self-awareness in view of improving self-understanding, controlling emotions, and developing self-potential. What kind of undertaking is required? Each case is different, but in general it is a process that is developed in two phases: an initial phase consisting of 4 to 8 sessions, during which the client is assisted in identifying specific problems or general blockage through dialogue with the counselor, and a second phase, whose duration depends on the individual circumstances involved, during which the client learns how to activate his/her own inner resources in order to deal with and overcome such problems. Together we identify personalized relaxation, guided imagery and meditation exercises in such a way that the path undertaken can be continued independently. |
